DUBAI – India began their Asia Cup 2025 campaign with a record-breaking nine-wicket win over UAE at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday night.
The hosts were bowled out for just 57 runs, the lowest total in Asia Cup history, before India wrapped up the chase in only 4.3 overs.

The match started at 7:30 PM GST (9:00 PM IST), with captain Suryakumar Yadav breaking India’s unwanted streak of 15 consecutive toss defeats by choosing to bowl first. His decision set the tone as India’s attack decimated UAE’s batting line-up in the searing Gulf heat.
The clash followed the tournament opener in Abu Dhabi, where Afghanistan defeated Hong Kong.

India’s top order showed ruthless efficiency in the chase. Abhishek Sharma blasted 30 runs before departing, leaving vice-captain Shubman Gill (20* off 9 balls) and Sanju Samson (7* off 4) to finish the job. The pursuit ended in just 27 balls, the fastest chase in the tournament’s history.

When does India play Pakistan?
The Asia Cup 2025, running from September 9 to 28 in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, features eight teams divided into two groups. After their emphatic start, India’s next match is the marquee clash with Pakistan on September 14 in Dubai, scheduled for 7:30 PM GST (9:00 PM IST).
UAE will play their next match against Oman on September 15 in Dubai, scheduled for 4:00 PM GST (5:30 PM IST).
